Hey everybody

Allright, so I know it's been awhile since I posted any content here. I've been really busy trying to create my apps to which I have made a bit of headway on. Android development is easy but debugging is worse.
Over the past week, I've learned a few things.
1.) How to load your app onto an android device. (specifically google nexus)
2.) How to debug an application.

To do the first, you must first update everything. I found the following link to be very helpful.
http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/beginner/install-apk-files-on-android/#.T2ov7REgd5Y

This actually takes longer than you would hope. It's very useful though as it provides proper QA.

The second is to doublecheck your android sdk path with that of what is in your "Environment variables" and your eclipse IDE.

I can very much tell you that the above will take awhile because of the updates and then tracing your path.

I'm going to leave this post with a few things.

1.)Allocate more time than normal to debug your application. The code will always work but when you're application shuts down unexpectedly on startup, you'll be fighting time to get that app started.
2.) Plan your APP.
Develop an organizational structure of each screen and each function.
       Map it out.
Write down the listeners that are associated with each class as this will help you identify other things you can incorporate into your app.

As a newbie to android developer, mapping really helps a lot.

Happy Coding!!!

First day as a freelancer. Found a coffee shop to work in as home was too much of a distraction. Not very quiet here but i've noticed it can keep you focused.
Starting Routine:

  1. Read a few blogs for about 30 minutes to find out new stuff that's going on and get some motivation.
  2. Watch this video:

  4. Start the study shuffle!!!

Android Layout

This is a reallygood explanation of laying out apps. For my first app, i've finally got some of the layout done, I just need to measure the margins and such. Again, I hate design.

Google Play

http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/introducing-google-play-all-your.html

Check out google's latest market changeover. I think this is another step to google taking over. I mean, imaging having everything on your droid: music, videos, games, etc... all in the cloud.

The only downside I see to this is using up a lot of your network data. A tip is to use your wifi connection when downloading content for offline play which will work but I still think they should put a cap on how much you can download over your cellular network. Maybe add an option in the settings that can limit or increase this depending on a number you choose would be great.

Introduction

Hi

A little about me. My name is Rizwan Sayani, I am currently a web developer who has recently delved into android development. I love it. Android is an amazing platform to develop in. You can do a lot of cool things with it. This blog will contain some cool code tips that I come accross as well as cool links.

There'll be something new everyday so check back often.

Thanks
